when you feel like you're going to break
Posted on 20 November 2014
I have been there. When you think you can't take any more.
When circumstances have gone pear shaped. When financial pressures are overwhelming and the bank balance just isn't going to balance. When marriage seems like more hard work than it's worth. When illness knocks you for a six. When dreams look like they are grasping for breath. When a loved one leaves a hole bigger than you think anything could fill.
But God can fill the hole. He will fill the gap. It most probably will not come in the form we imagine, but he will. God promises that he will never let us break.
His word says:
"A bruised reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out." - Isaiah 42:3
It's a promise. And as we all learnt in Sunday School - God keeps his promises (insert rainbow clipart here)! :) He will not let you break. He just won't.
You may feel bruised today. Tender. I encourage you to find a quiet place. Seize just a moment and shoot out an honest prayer. Whatever you can. Then turn your face and trust in Him today.
